PHP AREA ASSISTANT

Mission :
Job ResponsibilitiesTechnical<ul><li>&nbsp;Assist in the development and implementation of PHP activities within the catchment areas</li><li>&nbsp;Be responsible for identifying enumerators and community volunteers (e.g. WASH committees and hygiene promoters), supervising, supporting and training them in a defined geographical area, as defined by the WaSH Officer</li><li>&nbsp;Monitor the work of enumerators/promoters and volunteers on a daily basis and report on activities to the PHP area officer.</li><li>&nbsp;Work with PHE counterparts in latrine designs/ water point location and the operation and maintenance of facilities.</li><li>&nbsp;Conducting regular consultation with children, men and especially women, including vulnerable groups such as elders and people living with disabilities, and provide feedback of consultations to the WaSH officer.</li><li>&nbsp;Through assessments, surveys and focus group discussions collect and report community level programme information for submission to Wash officer.</li><li>&nbsp;Conduct community level trainings to build partner, stakeholders and community capacity in emergency contexts and for activities sustainable system.2</li><li>&nbsp;Actively listen to communities and support them to design solutions to WASH and other public health issues and give recommendations to the WaSH officer.</li><li>&nbsp;Coordinate with local actors (i.e. INGC MOH, etc.), community leaders and others NGOs to ensure effective delivery of WASH programme activities within the catchment areas&nbsp; In collaboration with the WaSH officer discuss and orientate community action plans in order to design a sustainable WASH programme in the catchment area</li><li>&nbsp;Ensure regular feedback and understanding of context especially related to (women) hygiene practices / community belief and perceptions</li><li>&nbsp;Ensure reporting and monitoring of activities according work plan and activities indicators.</li><li>&nbsp;Coordinate activities with colleagues in other sectors (PHE, ESVL, Protection and Gender) to ensure coherent approach to beneficiaries.</li><li>&nbsp;Work in close collaboration with PHE teams to ensure an integrated approach to the public health needs of the population.</li><li>&nbsp;Participate in team meetings and other meetings as appropriate</li><li>&nbsp;Any other activities as per the request of the WaSH</li><li>&nbsp;Participated in PHAST approach activities and assessment for longer term action.</li><li>&nbsp;Monitor promotion part of WASH committees as well as local institutions and health centres working as part of the long term program.</li><li>&nbsp;Support on the design of long term activities as per WASH strategy.</li></ul>Management<ul><li>&nbsp;Manage the work of assigned promoters, taking responsibility for monitoring quality of work, resolving issues (with support of the officer where required) and required paperwork for payment.</li><li>&nbsp;Liaise with logistics and finance to ensure proper planning for equipment and materials required for public health promotion work (i.e. preparing store releases and volunteer payment sheets).</li></ul>

Profil :
Education:<ul><li>;Competencies in communication and understanding of community dynamics are more essential than a formal qualification, however qualifications in public health, community health, social sciences or anthropology are highly desirable.</li><li>;Fluency in Arabic and Spanish, speaking and writing.</li><li>;English and/or French would be an added advantage.</li></ul>Experience:<ul><li>;Experience in working with communities and knowledge of public health issues and/or WASH</li><li>;Be proactive, have strong communication and problem-solving skills</li><li>;Experience of working with NGOs in emergency response is also highly desirable</li><li>;Experience in health promotion campaigns, training facilitation and assessments</li></ul>Key Attributes:<ul><li>;Ability to demonstrate sensitivity to cultural differences and gender issues, as well as the commitment to equal opportunities.</li><li>;Ability to demonstrate an openness and willingness to learn about the application of gender/gender mainstreaming, women’s rights, and diversity for all aspects of development work.3</li><li>;Commitment to Oxfam’s safeguarding policies to ensure all people who come into contact with Oxfam are as safe as possible.</li></ul>Organisational Values:<ul><li>;Accountability Our purpose-driven, results-focused approach means we take responsibility for our actions and hold ourselves accountable.
